Hi, I am me!

I was diagnosed a bit later than some...

I didn't know much about ASD, so it was a shock. I then spent a couple of years obsessing and researching!
I felt so relieved, suddenly understanding myself.

I really can't introduce myself as well as I should, or I'd possibly bore everyone.
I also tend to overtalk online, so thought it is best to keep it brief.

Thanks and sorry for this boring introduction :?

Hi,

Welcome

I was diagnosed late at 48. I knew a lot about it (a had a daughter diagnosed), but never seriously suspected myself until I got mine diagnosis

Hello Otaku and Welcome,

I was diagnosed more than a bit later than most. At first it felt like having a bucket of ice water dumped on me, but as I reflected on things it made perfect sense. That diagnosis was four years ago and I am still adjusting. Any introduction is fine.

Welcome. I do long posts too! Somehow, "Yes" or "No" just does not work. I am pleased you have joined us. Another normal person like me who writs and writes and writes to answer a simple single question! Haha! :D It is so good you can join us.

Thanks for all the responses, I got a bit scared, thinking I introduced myself badly :|

I want to say I can do better in real life, but it would be a lie!

Nice to meet you all. I hope I am not too scared to join in on the discussions. My anxiety is not just limited to real life, but anything I post online... it's exhausting!

Thanks again :D

This resonates particularly! I often don't mean to, but say everything in such a complex (yet unintelligent) way that even I get lost!
Just saying "Yes" or "no" feels incomplete. I want to say more than that, but end up making it unintelligible lol

Thanks very much for the welcome from everybody who has replied. It means a lot :)
Just noticed, this is a site that tells the public how much a post is edited. I edit any single mistake...
I feel like such a loser!

If you are like me, do you find you write and go off on so many tangents, that you forget the subject you were writing about in the first place? I do this when talking as well! Many conversations I have I never say what I was intending to say!

Yes, in real life also. I normally forget my point half way through what I wanted to say. I also find that I think something, so expect others to know very important parts I missed during my boring nonsense dialogue. It's like 'I thought it so surely you should know! you silly people' I realised I do this a lot, possibly my brain works too fast with many thoughts. I wish they were savant like thoughts (does 'savant like' even make sense :? ) but I am of average IQ and intellect. My NT sister is more academic than me!
Sorry, I probably shouldn't overtalk about myself on the intro thread and participate in the others!

No worries.

I am not really a quick thinker, but I am a very deep thinker, with a slightly above average IQ level. I think very well in picture form as I have a very visual mind. I will take a subject I "Latch onto" and explore and explore and explore and will keep on and on changing angles as I explore. Like a terrier, I won't let go until I am finally satisfied with the results. This could take years of bringing the subject back up with another angle on it.
If I am not able to latch onto a subject, I can find studying it difficult, and hard going. I generally want to avoid the subject to avoid mental stress. But subjects I latch onto are luxury. I acytually unwind exploring them! And I am a massive daydreamer! Haha!
