I'd like to introduce myself, my name is David, I'm 40 and from Adelaide, South Australia.

I was diagnosed as Autistic in January 2019 at the age of 39. Once diagnosed it felt like I was handed the reseult and sent on my way to work it all out on my own. Whilst the diagnosis provided some context to many events throughout my life, I had no idea where to go or what to do next. With pretty much all of the Autistic resources targeted at children, us Autistic Adults are treated as though we suddenly stop being Autistic once we turn 18. Of course nothing could be further from the truth!

For my whole life it felt like I was "searching" for something, to belong. Perhaps to join a group meeting other Autistic Adults to share experiences, stories and to support each other. After a year of searching and looking for some group like this, I was unable to find any. So I've just created a Facebook group to hopefully setup such a community for Autisic Adults located in Adelaide.

If you're in Adelaide and this sounds like something you're interested in, PM me and I can send you the link.
