Hi there, new to the site.
I'm a 36 year old man from Norway, and I got my aspergers diagnosis a month ago. My psychologist recommended me to check out this site, so here I am :)
I'm an aspiring writer, and have been working on a fantasy novel for the last fifteen years - and i'm finally getting close to finishing after a lot of rewrites, edits, long pauses, and laziness.
I'm currently working in a bookstore, where I've worked for the last ten years.
I've always been a shy, awkward and peculiar person, but over the last year following bouts of depression it's been problematic at work, due to the large number of social interactions with customers. It led to meetings with the employers, which in turn led to me seeing my doctor, who referred me to a psychologist, who took me through various tests before finally concluding with my current diagnosis: aspergers syndrom.
And suddenly everything fell into place, all the strange behavioral stuff through my childhood and teens, the feelings of being outside of humanity, everything made sense. It was a shock, but also a relief. It kind of felt like finding a piece from the puzzle that i didn't realize was missing.
So everything's kinda new and strange, but here I am. Hi everybody. :)

Well said and that's exactly how I felt when I got my diagnosis.

Hi Henrik. Welcome to Wrong Planet. :)
Anything you want to know ask. We like questions as we can answer them (Even if I don't know the answers, others will know).

Welcome to WP! I'm haven't been here that long but it seems to me the locals are friendly.

I got my ASD-1 diagnosis about a year ago. And I agree! The best thing about it was it explained so much. (Oh, I'm in the U.S. where they dropped "Asperger Syndrome" as a formal diagnosis in 2013. They just rolled it under "Autism Spectrum Disorder", and the "Level 1" is code for "Mild".)

Hey, thanks for the love :) Fredrikstad, yeah, that's on the eastern side of the country, close to the swedish border. I'm on the western coast, myself.

Don’t get me started on Norway .... seriously, it’ spectacular! Most fun and most laughs I’ve ever had knee deep in snow! I stayed in a beach house in Akershus ... in fact, right here ... https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/7703247?location=norway&check_in=2018-02-18&check_out=2018-02-25&s=c_XvSBFN&source_impression_id=p3_1604185806_6rOo1uqSKaxXPCS0

You could sail up to Oslo in just a half an hour from there. Must be just as beautiful West-side, I’d imagine.

First time I ever needed clampons on my snowboots ! Loved it! It was crazy! Lots of mountain climbing just to get to my car(the house was well and truly snowed in, so a good trek was required.) You have great folklore and fascinating food ... cloudberries! Very friendly people. Alot safer than Iceland was, that’s for sure!

I loved the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo ...

Looking out onto the fjord one of my team fell through the ice and into the water, just as we were climbing up out of it and about to climb up to the house ... very dangerous, but made it out alive and smiling ...

Good to have you with us!

Just beautiful!! Cannot argue with that! :P Lofoten's pretty special too ... I have a massive photographic tryptych of it on my living room wall. It's little wonder that you're a writer! All that inspiration!

your story seems to be very interesting, looking forward to knowing what is your book about)

Well, don’t want to give away too much, but it’s set in a alternate fantasy version of earth, with more or less the same continents though a few geographical differences. The various human cultures are based on those of our own history, but evolved further in time - imagine if Egypt was never conquered by the Persians, Alexander, or the romans, and their culture lasted into the 13th century, that kind of thing - and affected by the presence of magic, other peoples like elves and dwarves and centaurs, and by legendary beasts as a part of the natural ecology. Its still a work in progress but it will be vibrant, diverse, colorful and magical, and it is the setting for my first book, and several planned unconnected sequels.

As for the plot of the first book, wouldn’t want to give too much away there either, but it starts with a young norse mage who finds a spear with vast magical powers bound inside it. It then becomes a journey of exploration into the mystery of the spear and a battle against the ancient malevolent force that also seeks the spear for itself. That’s a VERY condensed version of the plot. It includes colorful locales, dragons, lots of magic, airships and a ton of allusions to myths and legends.
