Hi! I was diagnosed as an adult and just joined and wanted to say hello :)

Does anyone have any experience with moving/relocating or transitions as an adult? I am planning on moving across the country in the US. Terrified but at the same time obsessed with getting there. I'm not sure what I am thinking as I get severe anxiety just going on vacation..

Am I insane for trying this?

Thanks for having me

Hi, I just got a diagnosis too. I am going to uni next year and I was having a discussion with an autism specialist and although I am pretty optimistic about the outcome, I was warned a lot of aspies can be, and then it affects them quite hard. I would just be careful and make sure it's the right time and place, and even if you do have a transition period that it is still the right choice for you.

recently diagnosed at age almost 68, I am 69 now.. a lot of adjustments and changes in the way I think. I have moved several times. Planning ahead and writing everything down helps. I have found some of the parts of a move overwhelming, but also interesting, exciting, very stimulating and enjoyable. ( intermittent with bouts of self doubt and anxiety!). There are timelines published online about what can be done, how far ahead of a move, and things to remember. You can do this! Are there parts about moving that seem to you to need more support or insights? I bet a lot of us here have input that can help. Specific questions about details might be more helpful to you as you go along? Sending best wishes!

I think it would help if I had support group where I'm moving, but it would be my first. I'll have to look up timelines, that's super helpful..thanks! I'm also applying for virtual jobs as I can't keep my job here and move. I guess I'm a little worried that it has become my "special interest" and whether I'm doing the right thing? I spend most of my days excited and freaking out simultaneously...
Thanks for the warm welcomes

Welcome to WP. The locals seem like nice folk.

And my only suggestion about moving is: save the boxes. Co-workers and acquaintemances making local moves will be grateful if you can loan them some boxes.
