Hi there!

I just found this site a couple of the days ago. (My mom is really the one that found and emailed it to me.) So after looking around and doing so post, I figured I should introduce myself.

I'm 22 years and in my 5th year of college. I was diagnose with AS my junior year of high school (16 years old). However, at the time I really didn't understand what AS or how it affected me. I figured that out after listening a Talk of Nation Science Friday when their did a show on AS. It was after this show that I really understood what I had. However, when I was 7 years old (in the 2nd grade) was diagnose with ADD and dyslexia. So I used to being different from everyone else. Even with the ADD and dyslexia, in school I was main stream and got very good grades likes As and Bs.

Since I've been main stream in school, I've learned how to deal with NT people. To most poeple, I'm just quiet and shy. In high school, my group of friends loved it how I would just listen to their problems. So one could say I'm a good listen. It's how I've learn to survive in the NT world. However, one thing I do is don't tell alot of people I have AS unless I believe it's important in dealing with me. So, most people who are my friends have no clue I have AS.

As for my interests, right now I'm into late 17th century England. I met a professior who is will to help with my project, even will to do an independent study with me on it. As you can tell, I love to do research. So, I spend alot of time learning about stuff. I'm one of those people who will know everything about something before I do it.

17th century England sounds like an interesting subject, not that I'm an expert on history, but it's a subject I also find interesting.

Hi everyone.
I discovered this site today and was desperate to find support for my AS.
I never knew I actually had Asperger's until January of 2006 but when I did, I was desperate to find support. Even though I am not allowed friends because I am raised in a Catholic setting but go to a public school, I am searching for someone{perhaps another student at my school?} willing enough to be a good friend to me and teach me the ways to socialize in the correct manner. I am not allowed a gf under constant ultimatums of exorcism.

Very good to hear that you are succeeding in this world of strange NTs.

I myself am slowly startig to understand the specimen and their attributes. I will have to research them a few more years before I know every little nuance in their communication sequences. Maybe I should make one of them my lab-rat, muahah!


Good to hear that you got through school so well. I was bullied throughout school because of my "absent mindedness" and thus had a hard time. The autism spectrum, and the AS spectrum as a separate entity is very broad so people are different no matter their diagnosis.
