Hey! I'm new. My name is Lee, and I'm 25. I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was 19 or so. I have learned to cope with it even though it seems to greatly effect my social functioning abilities. I've done some research on it for my own personal benefit as I had not known anything about it at the time I was diagnosed. Currently, I am a Doctoral student at the local university, and I am going to be taking a class that they are offering over the summer in autism. Part of this class requires that you spend 15 hours with someone with an autistic spectrum disorder of 1-21 years of age, and unfortunately, I am neither of that age nor am I allowed to do research on myself. Therefore, I am wondering if there are any individuals in the Tallahassee area that would be able to assist me with this. I think it would be very interesting talking to another individual with an autistic spectrum disorder, and maybe we could go for coffee or even be friends seeing as I understand the ocassional difficulties of relating with NT individuals. Let me know if you are interested. I too enjoy being in the company of other Aspies and have a wide variety of interests such as the performing arts, writing, drawing, and creating things.
