Hi! I'm David, 16 years old from Scotland and I feel very left out right now because I don't really have many good friends to be honest! yes I have friends, but I feel like they judge me, troll me, say mean things to me, and it's honestly for no reason at all. I'm like a VERY friendly person but no matter what I do I feel like people will always make fun of me and I'll feel this way for a long time! I honestly wish I had some friends to hang out with to places, or facetime if I feel brave enough. The problem is I have social anxiety! therefore I find it absolutely terrifying to go and talk to someone new or join a group mainly because I prefer 1 on 1, I've tried joining clubs but it doesn't really work because no one pays interest in me. I'm also sadly bad at eye contact and also pretty shy with some people, mostly girls! mainly because I've always wanted to be best friends with a girl but I've never had the chance to. But when a girl is nice to me like waves at me and smiles, talks to me in a high voice, or says something else that makes me feel like a child, I feel a lot of pressure and get VERY shy. Another reason why I'm anxious is because of the way I look, people said to me online I look underage, or sometimes ugly! I'm sorry for the long negative message but I just felt like telling people how I feel right now and I've never used this site before. PM me if you want and maybe we can be friends, oh by the way I like to play video games and I'm on my way to developing games in the future! so far i'm coding five nights at freddys, I occasionally like going to the arcades too.

Growing up as a Aspie can be rough time. Many of us traditionally look younger than we are, this will
Be a great benefit as you age . Am sorry you don’t have many personal good quality friends. They can be
Very hard to find . But as a old saying I read somewhere about friends was : have for your friends the very best of friends. I have never lent that title to very many humans in my life.
It’s good that you are aware of how people in real life can be around you . Your honesty about things around you in real life may pay big dividends in your work life . If your able to do coding , make it a big thing .
Maybe even focus on it ? .
It might pay off well as you age,especially , maybe later on ,if you end up pursuing that as a trade ?
Good luck on sorting the good people from the not soo good people in your life . :mrgreen:

Welcome to WP! I hope you find some comfort here.

P.S. Your WP Profile says "Not sure if I have it or not". We can't tell you whether or not you have it but I hope you have already discovered these:
>=>- https://psychology-tools.com/test/autism-spectrum-quotient
>=>- https://rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php Registering is optional!
They can't tell you, either, but you might find them to be interesting.

Welcome to Wrong Planet.

I'm like a VERY friendly person but no matter what I do I feel like people will always make fun of me and I'll feel this way for a long time!

I felt the same way when I was growing up. I had a close friend. When I look back, the reason why we fit together was because we were somewhat alike. We were like two young kids exploring the unknown world around us. So you are probably in the right place.

yes I have friends, but I feel like they judge me, troll me, say mean things to me, and it's honestly for no reason at all.

Let me try and explain this. Humans have two phases in life. These are childhood and adulthood. They change from one phase to the other at around age 10-12 in males. They become very different people when they become adults. In my case, I never changed. I am 73 years old, but I am still a child deep inside me. I am still a little boy. In a sense I am Peter Pan. So how did I survive? Actually quite well. It was my differences that gave me great strength. I learned to utilize my great strengths to overcome my great weaknesses.

The problem is I have social anxiety!

Around half of the people in the world are introverts and the other half are extroverts. It sounds like you are an introvert. One of the better ways to make friends for an introvert is to meet other introverts. It worked for me and some of my few friends have remained my friends for over 50 years. (Introverts hang out in different areas than extroverts.)

I'm also sadly bad at eye contact

Most introverts are.

people said to me online I look underage

I cannot help you much here. Perhaps you need to grow a beard or mustache. It worked for me.

I like to play video games

Many Aspies do. I might recommend you attend a Video Game Conference. I do not know about Scotland but maybe one of these might lead the way.

EGX – Birmingham, England & London, England
Multiplay's Insomnia Gaming Festival – NEC Birmingham
UK Games Expo – annual hobby gaming convention held annually at the Hilton, NEC in May/June

Fits me...unfortunately, I think Franklin was talking about the mind, not the body.
