This is my first post here and I wanted to say hi. My name is Rich. I'm 41 years old, though I wasn't diagnosed with mild Asperger's and OCD until I was 39.
I too am late-diagnosed. First suspected back in 2008, finally diagnosed in late 2019.

I am an extremely detail-oriented person, which I think makes me come across as a little intense to many neurotypicals.
Same here.

I think a lot about peoples' perception of me, and I often sense, whether right or wrong, that NTs find me a little strange. This of course in turn makes me feel isolated and misunderstood socially.
That I'm "a little strange" has been pretty much a given throughout my life. In high school I made a decision to seek out fellow oddballs rather than try to fit in with normal kids. This has been my life strategy, throughout my life.
Another thing that has helped me a lot is living in a highly multicultural neighborhood, with immigrants from all over the world and no one dominant ethnic group. That way, there is no one cultural norm I am pressured to fit in with, beyond basic courtesy.

Anyway, I'm here to talk with you all a little about this and other things!
Welcome to Wrong Planet!
I'm from Queens too. Please see my private message to you.
Coincidentally, I just sent you a PM, without realizing you already sent me one! (I think this site can be a little wonky, I looked at "x new messages" at the top of the page and it said "zero" even though you had messaged me). Talk soon!
