Greetings from Queens, NYC

This is my first post here and I wanted to say hi. My name is Rich. I'm 41 years old, though I wasn't diagnosed with mild Asperger's and OCD until I was 39. I am an extremely detail-oriented person, which I think makes me come across as a little intense to many neurotypicals. I think a lot about peoples' perception of me, and I often sense, whether right or wrong, that NTs find me a little strange. This of course in turn makes me feel isolated and misunderstood socially. Anyway, I'm here to talk with you all a little about this and other things!

I too am late-diagnosed. First suspected back in 2008, finally diagnosed in late 2019.

That I'm "a little strange" has been pretty much a given throughout my life. In high school I made a decision to seek out fellow oddballs rather than try to fit in with normal kids. This has been my life strategy, throughout my life.

Another thing that has helped me a lot is living in a highly multicultural neighborhood, with immigrants from all over the world and no one dominant ethnic group. That way, there is no one cultural norm I am pressured to fit in with, beyond basic courtesy.
