Hi all  :skull:

I'm new here. I'm 30 years old and from the UK, and was diagnosed autistic in my teens after I began to refuse school, and took more and more extreme measures to avoid going. Eventually my mental health was destroyed, but I made it through, and now I'm a grown up who has the same problems with going to work every day.

I suspect very strongly I may be a PDAer, but this was not part of my original diagnosis. :|

I often get upset and feel that I was not supposed to be a human because its much too hard, and that something obviously went wrong somewhere along the line.

I am married to another autistic human who is differently autistic to me, but we also have a lot of overlap.

I'm here to chat to other people who can relate, and see what other peoples' experiences are.

Idk what pda is but I feel the same way. Matter of fact, my severe aversion to schedules is what ended up getting my official diagnosis. I lose it at even the thought of having to do something. Idk how to fix it.. luckily I married someone who is not on the spectrum and can be the responsible one (in that respect anyway).

Of course, "PDA" typically means "Public Display of Affection" but somehow that didn't seem to fit in this context.

My guess is OP was talking "PDA" meaning "Pathological Demand Avoidance".

Though Public Display of Affection sounds interesting, too.

welcome! I love the screen name and the avatar... I have been obsessed with skeletons and bones most of my life (among many other passionate interests). Glad you are with us. Lots of good insights and ideas in our experienced group of autistic individuals and associates. Sorting it all out takes time. Many here can help you find answers. You are not alone!

Hey, I'm new here too and just clicked on your post because your post title resonated strongly with my thoughts recently!

I will be 30 in a few months and am also from the UK :)
