Hello, my name is Abe.
I signed up for this site as I'm currently awaiting an autism diagnosis (I've been informed that the wait may be in excess of 2 years) and I am wishing to seek out support and more information. I am of course aware that I may not be diagnosed as being on the spectrum, however I am fairly sure that I will be.
I'm 25 but throughout my childhood/young adulthood, there were suggestions from teachers/professionals that I may be on the spectrum. However, due to a lack of understanding from myself about autism (I simply didn't believe that I might have it, I blamed everything on "anxiety"), as well as fear, I only recently decided to seek out a diagnosis.
My main challenges in life right now mostly revolve around socialising and being out and about (I have dealt with agoraphobia for just over a year), and also being able to manage my "symptoms" in a way that will allow me to keep a job and have at least decent mental health. I will soon be self-referring for talking therapies to help to address these issues (thankfully, the waiting time for talking therapies in my area is not so bad).
More than anything I want to say that I hope your day is going well, and I look forward to getting more involved in this community.
Take care!
