I'm a 34 year old woman who recently got diagnosed with autism. I live in Sweden with my partner and my two cats. Nice to meet you!

Welcome to WP :)

Unless you have researched the s**t out of autism, you probably have a lot of questions and are maybe feeling a little shell shocked about the diagnosis. There are lots of people here willing to answer questions and lots of cat lovers too :cat:

Thank you I work in the healthcare sector so I know quite a bit about the diagnosis and it was expected. But thank you for asking.

Then you may become a useful member of this forum with your knowledge, which is always a bonus.

Welcome to Wrong Planet! I hope you like it here and I agree with Recidivist, you might be able to help some people here.

And, I don't really share any of the interests you listed—unless you like music by Steve Roach, Robert Rich, and similar ambient/space music (I also like some classical and also much Philip Glass...but do not listen to them much because they demand my attention rather than sitting peacefully in the background).

Oh, doesn't everyone like cats?! Cats are wonderful and know it! :)

Thank you :-) That music by Steve Roach was very soothing, I listen to this kind of music also, I listen to most kinds of music actually. I tend to connect small stories of my life with music pieces and then I tend to listen to them over and over again until they made their point. I helps me sort trough emotions.

For example Madonnas - like Prayer is a song about someone practicing white magick, Theurgy, according to me. I can listen to it endlessly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fzeNUqQbQ :P

YES! I almost made a thread on this topic. I have Alexithymia so it's very difficult for me to put my experiences in words. I'm able to bridge that gap with music lyrics. I've been known to play one song on repeat for up to 10 or 12 hours, at times. It's incredible how I'll have a weird feeling and not be sure how to express it, and something guides me to the perfect song even if I've never heard it before and it's in my YT list.

I'm the same with printed photographs because I can't picture people / things, so I'm kind of obsessed with photo albums and framed photos. Digital is OK too but there's something magical about having a printed copy to touch and hold.

I'm glad you find some Steve Roach music you enjoyed. I find that ambient and space music are often very nice to have playing in the background. I compare it to the paint on the walls which isn't meant to be looked at but nonetheless improves a room—I find that ambient, space, and trance music also improve a room even though I don't listen too closely to it.

When I was still working I often sought background music with a different energy and feeling. My favorite was to loop Philip Glass' Koyaanisqatsi. In the office I'd use headphones, at home I would get some very odd looks from my bride (not only was I playing it without headphones, I was possibly playing it kind of loud). :D

I seldom enjoy vocal music, even less often solo vocalists. One exception that immediately comes to mind is Annette Strean of Venus Hum. Regarding Madonna...I can't say I'm a fan of her music but my uninformed opinion of her is high.

I've heard the term but didn't know what it was except for bi and aural.
When I googled it says something about Delta sleep.
That interests me because I don't do Delta sleep according to sleep studies.
I sleep with earplugs though, so if it's a sleep noise thing I can't do it.

Its for relaxation. I can't sleep with it on either. It is two different frequencies playing in different ears that makes up a pulsating sound. It helps with relaxation, meditation, increased awareness and focus.
