The profile got my age wrong. I'm 34, not 35. I won't be 35 until July 2nd. And what does emu egg mean? Is everyone that is starting out new to this website called emu egg? Emu egg sounds insulting, it doesn't sound like an good comment.

Is it possible that you did not format your date of birth in the expected way? For example, inputting your birthdate as 7th February (seventh day of the second month) rather than 2nd July (second day of the seventh month).

Yes, there are silly bird-themed roles for new users that relate to the number of posts you have made - at the moment you are an egg because you are new. This is just a curiosity, and generally ignored by the userbase. It doesn’t “mean” anything, but it can be interesting to watch it change as you make new posts.

well don't take the emu egg to serious, it is just a think they put if you are a new user, stick around long enough and you will become a veteran of WP like I have.

Those different bird and dinosaur categories have always been around but those names such as emu egg or velociraptor mean nothing really. Was probably included in the original software when developed and pretty random. I don't think admin has the tools to remove it. It won't stay emu egg for long.

The age thing might be because of the different way that people in the US or UK write dates. It's not long to go before it will show your correct age. Age isn't important here either and some of us left it blank or put joke ages in like 310. If it is a concern for you you might PM Cornflake who has the admin tools to handle that sort of thing or I could message him for you.

Other than that I hope all ok and I'd like to welcome you to WP and wish you happy stay. Contact one of us for any further questions you may have

I see Walrus has already responded while I was typing so nothing I can add except to endorse what he said .

The forum rank is just a spot of harmless fun and has no meaning beyond that.
The name sequence, with the post count required to achieve each, is:

Quote:
Emu Egg = 0-8
Butterfly = 9-17
Hummingbird = 18-24
Tufted Titmouse = 25-49
Yellow-bellied Woodpecker = 50-74
Blue Jay = 75-99
Raven = 100-124
Snowy Owl = 125-174
Pileated woodpecker = 175-199
Sea Gull = 200-249
Toucan = 250-299
Deinonychus = 300-399
Velociraptor = 400-499
Veteran = 500+

I admire the selfcontrol to not have one of the categories as "great tit."

Interesting 2nd email.

Many of us think in terms of black and white. But many NTs think in terms of various degrees of the color spectrum.
So your comments about your REAL age and comparing your distinct differences (in this case how you are described emu egg rise to the surface.

We are neurodiverse living in a neurotypical world.

It took a bit of experimentation to get my age displayed correctly. The panel says to enter your "Date of Birth" as mm/dd/yyyy but my correct age is being displayed and my "Date of Birth" is entered in my profile as dd-mm-yyyy Numbers!.

Oh, I've chosen to enter an approximate Date of Birth into my profile. I distrust the Internet.

And maybe the Internet can't be trusted. My WrongPlanet approximate date of birth is mysteriously now listed elsewhere on the Internet...with my real name!

I would like to express my admiration for your taxonomic accuracy, classifying dinosaurs right along with birds.

.... yes, I know a butterfly is not at bird...
