Hello,
oh, I have read a bunch of these, not sure how to proceed.

57 years old, guy

Here to make friends.

My interests are
physics, math, (nonlinear dynamics, chaos, plasma physics, group theory)
insects (really just hymenoptera and beetles, oh and springtails),
(trying to grow) orchids and cacti,
trying to learn languages without speaking to anyone (Japanese, German, Icelandic, Swedish, with Russian, Arabic, and Korean on the radar)
multiplayer video games (final fantasy XIV, fallout 76, Phantasy Star Online, GTA5?) - this largely was social life, although friends come and go here
write crap fan fiction in discord with others, although they have drifted away, miss that
I go to the gym, not sure if that is an interest or torture, like to be in shape to go hiking, hoping to meet some sort of life partner
I bicycle most places, recently moved, I move a lot, work from home,
trying not to get a car but so hard to get around in US without it, wish I lived in Tokyo
signed up for a motorcycle class, into sustainability, vegetarian mainly as food is all the same to me
huge star trek fan, love STTOS, STTNG, STDS9, STVOY, STENT, wasn't a fan of some of the new stuff, although love lower decks and getting into strange new worlds, sometimes dress up and go to cons, can talk forever about ST, not a star wars fan until mandalorian
So, I have zero local friends, seem to be always working on that, I feel like I have worked hard to learn to recognize other's emotions, still have a hard time gauging other peoples' interest in me, always assume others want to be left alone, usually right I think, quietly desperate for a close relationship but sort of feel I shut down and bail when someone gets close
I was married and had to kids, not sure how that happened
I feel bad even writing this, kinda selfish, hopefully something above resonates with you, I feel I focus on my interests too much and neglect other persons

Well, ok, I want to hear from you, feel free direct message me or invite to new thread so others can join. Off to explore these forums
Hope this works out!

Welcome to Wrong Planet. I am one of the old timers. I am 74 but I am still a child deep down inside. I just grew a mustache and everyone believed I was an adult. Recently I have gone back to the pool to swim. I swim about a mile every time. I swim on my back using flippers. It is relaxing and helps to keep me fit.

Welcome to WP! I hope you like it here.

P.S. My (ADHD, not ASD) bride is from Texas. As a result, I know what to call a group of Texans:
<=>- My answer: LOUD!
<=>- Her answer: A PARTY!

thanks jimmy, double and winters!

I am sort of a fake Texan, haven't lived here long, been all over, Miami, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Alaska. Still trying to find somewhere that feels like home. Afraid to buy furniture as that seems like too much commitment.

Nice to see us older people here. Older in age, me, I feel I'm stuck at 14 years old. Maybe an ASD theme from other threads I've read. :)

And Spock was always my hero - full of emotion but doesn't show it, channels things into science. Maybe an early ASD role model.

Cheers all!

welcome, lots of friendly folks here, and maybe a higher percentage of "mature" adults. Glad you are with us!

I lived in Dallas, Texas over 60 years ago. I found it to be a very nice place for a child to grow up in. It was very friendly and accepting. Some of my best memories are from this region.

You said that you feel like you are around age 14. That makes a lot of sense. It is around age 13 that a child makes the final transition into adulthood.

In my case, I died when I was around age 3 or 4. I walked behind a large bull and it struck me right in the head. I weighed around 10-20 pounds at the time and the bull weighed over 1,000. As a result, I died. I experienced what is commonly known as a near death experience. I stood next to my dead body. My parents took my body and placed it in the bed of my home. They were in utter horror and fear. I stood there next to my body not knowing what had happened. But then a voice spoke to me and said "Live or Die, Choose". I couldn't stand the fear in my parents and I said Live.

As a result, I came back but rather then a left hand dominant brain, I came back as a right hand brain. Eventually my left side came back but it took the place formally occupied by my right side brain. It was a brain flip. The two halves of the brain are very different. I am fearless and also I never grow old. In a way I am a little like Peter Pan.

Spoke is a very good example of a right side dominant brain.
