Hello everyone. I learned about this site long ago, but for some reason never got around to registering. I just now decided I might as well hop on and see what's what on here. And since there is a place to post introductions, I'll say a bit about myself.
I'm 25, male, diagnosed Aspie in 2001, computer-focused and a programmer by trade. My interests outside of computers include reading fantasy and science fiction novels, acting intellectual (i.e. talking about philosophy/politics/morality/religion/etc.), and the furry community.
I've had some major social evolution going on since last summer. Thanks said furry community, I've built a local social circle that I simply didn't have before then, and more importantly developed important skills in meeting new people and dealing with social gatherings. Recently, I'm starting to branch out into other social settings, taking the skills and techniques I've learned and applying them there, with a reasonable amount of success.
Another thing that's happened as largely a result of furry is me coming out as bisexual. I place myself currently at about a 4 on the Kinsey scale, and having friends among a group of people where alternative sexualities are common like furry finally gave me a reason to start sharing this fact. I simply have no interest in the standard 'gay culture' scene, and until yet more recently was not looking for a romantic partner, so up until last summer being bi was simply something I refrained from mentioning to people. Coming out has largely been a positive experience for me, though offline I don't make a big deal of it; my previous employer never knew, for example.
I'm certainly not without my problems. Some of those I may end up posting about on these forums, but for now I think I'll leave it at that.
