Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone from Ireland (North or South of the border), can tell me about their experiences of being diagnosed with AS, the amount of time it took, process, good and bad points. Also does anyone know of AS specialists that I can ask my GP to refer me to for a diagnosis? I'm from County Tyrone in N.Ireland.

Thanks for your time :)

I was diagnosed within a hour, I doubt that's common, though.
There's a couple in the north on this list:

Good Luck.

I'm not in Ireland, but welcome to WP nonetheless!

I'm from Belfast, and I visited my GP just over a year ago with my concerns about AS. A week or so later I phoned to check up. She told me a specialist in Belfast was interested in my case, but from what she said I could be waiting a year or more before I'd be seen. But that if someone was interested in my case it could happen sooner.

I've not heard a word since and I'm starting to wonder if I should check back with the GP to make sure I've not been forgotten about. I'm hoping for now everything is still on course and I'll hear something some time soon. I thought I might have had some acknowledgement from the specialist that I was on a waiting list, but I don't know if it works that way. I'm not sure whether or not this is typical though.
