I'm a college student at a small liberal arts school, majoring in philosophy (...kind of, the program I'm in covers a lot of disciplines and a lot of historic eras). I've been a lurker here for some time and decided to join the forum, mostly becuase I feel as though I could use some more friends, both online and in real life.
As far as my Asperger's goes... I'm pretty borderline. A lot of this has to do with me putting a lot of effort into adapting to NT society in general; as a result, I generally come across as being really genuinely friendly but a bit odd and quirky. What usually doesn't get communicated is the fact that I rock myself and hug my pillow whenever I have an opportunity, generally prefer being alone in the library to doing social things like dancing, playing sports, etc, and have a pretty hard time being really close to people and comfortable with them. I showed a lot more symptoms when I was a little kid, but tend to repress them more often than not, seeing as I've gone through a lot of "growing and maturing" (aka I tried my hardest not to be called names, pushed around, and sent to the "ret*d room" in middle school). So no idea if I could be diagnosed with AS today or not; I do know that when I was about eleven, a psychiatrist offered to diagnose me but said that it wouldn't help much because I was very high-functioning. I mean... I do read faces and all...
Anyways, I'm planning on participating on this forum and all, so hopefully in the process of doing so, I'll meet some cool people. And if you're into Plato, St. Augustine, Plotinus, Marcus Aurelius, and other philosophers along those lines... so much the better. I loves the ancient philosophy/literature (...as long as it isn't Aristotle!).
