I like to fidget with and hold on to small objects. Usually an eraser or a pen/pencil. I find I do this often both when interacting socially or alone in my room, and I don't really know why. Surely I can't always be this anxious!

I usually play around with a pen, my cell phone or the TV remote. Lift it, turn it around, let it drop again, again, again ... quickly. It obviously makes other people nervous look at it ;-)

Usually it occurs when I am concentrating on something like watching something interesting on TV or reading a book.

It most certainly is related to thinking ... I am sure.

Today the spinning of the front load clothes dryer and washing machine at the laundromat kept me pretty well occupied

Sounds just like me. The closest front-loader washing machine (and that's not even in our house - my Mom supports the top-loader Speed Queens!) is at our laundromat around the corner - just a walk away. I walk past on my way to the shops, and desperately hope that it's running. It's a Girbau heavy-duty washer, and it's SO KEWL :D when it starts to spin.

In fact, I think I'm going to get out of my pyjamas right now, and go there to try and talk the lady into starting it up - she knows I have A.S. I'll take my sleeping bag along if there's nothing else for her to wash!! I'm going to make a video recording of the machine running - I couldn't get anything suitable on Youtube.

Lately it's been music, same song for days.

Pacing has been a big one in the past.

Probably some I don't even know as stimming.

Oh, pacing is considered as stimming too? I confess I pace when I am alone at home but try to supress it in public places. It means I am stressed way too much and will have tics soon. This is very embarrassing when being watched. I cannot remember tics when not pacing.

If I need to cool, I will sometimes sit back on a chair, close my eyes, take deep breaths and point my arms forward... I will then sorta picture myself placing my hands on the top part of a white glowing ball of energy and separate my arms from it, moving them slowly upwards and diagonally away, which I perceive as creating a bigger ball of energy... kinda strange lol.

I often stim at words...I have no idea why. The latest word I do this to is "tachycardia".

Sometimes I shake my head when I see something that I don't like.

And if I am over whelmed by something I will repeat "Get out" over and over again.
