Though this isn't technically my first post; I jumped right into a bunch of discussions, this is my way of introducing myself.
What is your first name? Jen
Age: 18
Location: from New Hampshire, though in New Jersey for school
Hobbies and Interests: Reading, watching movies, writing short stories based off of some of my more profound thoughts, talking politics and religion late at night, anything to do with anti-utopia/dystopia
Why are you here? I wanted to better understand why I am like I am.
When were you diagnosed? I was never properly diagnosed. My parents took me to see something like a shrink when I was very young. The woman was pretty sure that I had it, as was my mother. My dad was afraid that if I was an Aspie then it would be his fault (it is probable that he also has AS). I didn't even know about Aspergers until a little under a year ago, when my mother finally told me about all of this happening and her belief that I had it. It was followed by a lot of research and everything I learn seems to coincide with my behavior/what I've been through growing up and convinces me further that I have it.
Favorite subjects: History, Politics, Philosophy, Sociology
Year/Grade: Freshman in College
Favorite music: Classical, Techno, Rock (preferably the harder stuff like Slipknot, and Static-X but also mellow stuff like Norah Jones and Feist)
Books: Too many. My favourite assigned reading was Frankenstein and my favourite author would have to be Kurt Vonnegut. Growing up I was buried in books, but I loved His Dark Materials and similar series.
TV shows/Movies: Futurama, The Simpsons, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Current TV, All kinds of movies except for gore and horror movies (though some gore is okay, like in Pan's Labrynth and the 300) and anything in which a vampire is the protagonist.
Instrument: I wish I could play one, I tried to learn flute and just got frustrated in grade school, and then tried to learn bass guitar a couple years ago, also unsuccessfully.
Do you like sports? If so, which ones?: Yes and no. I like to play tennis and can watch certain sports like hockey live, but most bores me.
Family: Mom and Dad, otherwise I'm an only child.
Clothing: Casual. I have a thing for gray and black, though don't consider myself gothic in the slightest
How did you find this website? I was looking up books on AS and one comment on a book cited this website.
Job: I don't have one yet, and I'm not sure what exactly I'll do with my major.
Plans for the future? I never want kids, and though I'd like to eventually find somebody to live the rest of my life with, I don't really want to marry them. I want to travel and advocate for human rights until my bones are too brittle to handle traveling.
