Hello, I"m new here. My 13 year old son has Aspergers. My 8 year old daughter has Type 1 Diabetes. Does anyone think there is a genetic link? Thing is, at my daughters diabetes clinic there are at least 3 children who have both conditions and a couple of others that like my family have siblings one with each seperate condition. We are from Suffolk. UK.

Hi. Unfortunately, if there were a link one would think that there'd be a hell of a lot more diabetic aspies.....

I am not sure about the link to diabetes... i am hypoglycemic myself. Its kind of nice to get to eat little things all the time.

I am not sure if there is a link between the two conditions...maybe try and do some research.

Probably not, most likely the fact Aspergers is over diagnosed colliding with sheer chance.
