I've always known my whole life there was something wrong with me but I never knew what it was until I found a Wikipedia article for AS. I was really depressed when I read it but it has helped me discover what I suffer from. Of course knowing I have this condition doesn't help make life better. I'm trying to branch out and meet people. I feel most comfortable meeting people online. I also visit Second Life and enjoy other's company. I feel I can express myself the most, unhindered by fear and anxiety, with my music and art and video.

Does anyone else use artwork to communicate? How does that work for you?

I’m so glad I found this website. Please go easy on me...

Hey, that music on your site is pretty cool.
I'm not myself a musician and I'm almost tone deaf but still wanted to express my appreciation so far.
Don't laugh but I gave drums and guitar a try years ago and now I mess with a tracker program from time to time.

Creative expression has helped me vent some things but I haven't really mastered any form; I've wandered aimlessly between music, creative writing and video game modding. In some cases I managed to at least show some people things I couldn't normally express in rational ways. I really need to go back to writing or something cause most things feel like a waste of time when compared to creating and showing the world that which is. . . alien.
I have different issues pulling me in different directions so I can't always find the time to do what I'd truly want or even think clearly about it.

thanks!

i would never laugh. that's fantastic!

you might enjoy buying a small sketchbook and keeping it with you at all times. then whenever inspiration hits doodle whatever comes to mind; never censor yourself. you can spend as much or as little time as you want. you can even leave drawings incomplete if you wish. it's a fun little exercise in expressing bursts of creativity. after a month you'll be amazed at all the little moments in time you've created, and the best part is you'll know what each one means. i believe the Egyptians did this... only they expressed themselves on walls and it was called hieroglyphics.

I drew this :)

Image

It's a illustrative representation of Radiohead's "ALL I NEED" off their latest album IN RAINBOWS. Fantastic album!

Art for me is like my first language. When I focus, I see things in line and shape and color, and forget words. It just translates. I'm sorry that you feel depressed with your diagnosis. When I learned, it was awesome, because I learned that it wasn't my fault. That it was ok to go off and be weird, because I was supposed to be like that. I've never heard of the site you mentioned, I put my stuff up on deviant art. Click on my web page to see it.

Welcome.
Sometimes a diagnosis can be depressing, you feel like you're disabled, forever restrained from certain potential. But most neurotypical things can be learned. Social rules and conscious or unconscious body language can be studied like a science.
And being on the spectrum gives you a unique perspective and special talent.
