Hey guys :)

I've been looking around abit for a real asperger community. In my country there aren't enough resources, so they globalize, not clustering autism. So they put the autism spectere in 1 forum. This kind of sucks, so I wen't out to seek a real asperger community which was in English language, and I came here. Readed abit and I can see most of the stuff back in me, nice site. :P

I've come to chit chat abit about stuff, aswell to share my experiences from my never ending struggle to live in this cursed planet.

Abit about myself:

I'm Niek, a 18 YO male from the Netherlands (that small county in Europe where u can smoke weed)
I am diagnosed with the Asperger syndrome. I have to admit, I don't have it in a high degree, but I certianly got all the aspects.
Ofc I like computers alot, I study computer science, hope to get my master degree someday, working on bachelor atm. I also exercise fitness + powerlifting to make me feel good and sometimes I go out with friends. (alchohol to componsate non-verbal contact ftw) And I play computergames (suprise suprise  ) and I am a ex world of warcraft addict. (glad I'm released from that shite lol)

My social skills suck, with my IQ of 132 I can learn verbal social skills but my non-verbal skills still suck, and I can't seem to componsate them with my intellect. Did various training for it but none helped, I guess im to the limit now. Especially making eye contact burns mental energy like hell, it's like having migraine for me. Anyhow I got friends now that know of my "disorder" and accepted it, and go out once a while and with the help of alchohol my verbal skills increase since it costs less mental energy. Overall I'm quite happy with my life and perspectives, still sucks that i'l prolly will never get a girlfriend but hey, gues I should be happy about me getting a master degree one day, having a couple of good friends and having a nice health. After all, after 5 years of enormous effort, sacrifice and discipline I can be proud of that.

Well I hope I can make alot of fun and share experiences with the REAL earth here.
Cya around! :)

Welcome to the WP! It's great that you're such a positive person. AS can be a trial, but it's always good to keep things in perspective... :D

Welcome here, Niek!

Alcohol certainly worked for me as a tongue-loosener and all-around disinhibitor. I had to give it up, though - at the end of the day (and the following morning as well) it was doing me more harm than good.

If you can enjoy social drinking, and don't suffer harmful consequences from it, lucky you!

Welcome Niek,

The girls will find you, stay happy and in good shape.

A good lot here, speaking American, not one of the old tribal dialects of English.

Your country, my city, both below sea level.

Thank you everyone.

Ye alchohol works for me as tongue loosener, as long as I keep controlling it. For me, a powerfull tool indeed, but if I give in to tempations of drinking more then 1 kind of alchohol for example it goes the wrong way. ^^ But when it goes good it looks like I'm "normal" and making friends suddenly becomes the most easy thing in life. :?

Edit: Tip: drink 3 beers to get the buzz going, then 1 beer per 1 hour to keep the buzz going, this way u become "normal" while staying in the limits of being sick (atleast for me) if u also eat well and drink water. U gotta have a strong discipline though to resist the tempation of friends offering beer etc.

And about a GF coming to ME, hmm I guess so, but I'm not counting on it.
Could always take some drunk girl from the club home etc, easy enough here, but as an Asperger that's nothing for me. :P

About the pot. Some think it works against anxiety. I know of some people who say they benefit from smoking weed. I I smoked weed once or twice when I was young (ha ha) but I never felt good about it. In fact it made me feel paralized and even more isolated from people.

I need to keep my brain clear to navigate social and got sea-sick from 2nd hand smoke. Just wondered how it could help. I guess it could help anxiety and maybe decrease inhibition. Not sure, thinking. . . . 8)
