Hello All,
I just joined and didn't know there was a great site like this for folks like me. I'm so happy I found you all. I am 41 yrs. young/old and was diagnosed six yrs. ago- 4 months before the attacks of 9/11. I'm pretty much a loner, but do have a few close, longtime friends, (all anyone really needs). Prior to medicine and therapy, life was hell, (literally). After meds and therapy- OK,but I feel kinda lost. I'm just laying low now- working a crappy job and going to school part-time. I have mixed feelings about the term Aspie, but I'm getting to the point where I can function pretty well and am growing comfortable with the gifts that AS brings. There are neurotypicals that do try to understand, (God(s), esses bless 'em), as for the rest- what the hell do they know!? We're good people; nice meeting you all.

Aspie is iffy, but loner, mutant, weirdo, does not work for everyone. Gifted with Super Powers, sounds pretentious, and why explain anyway? Except for a few I like, to hell with them all. Not that I am religious.

I claim WP as the event in my life. It does make sense, been doubting that for sixty years.

Coming here, I developed a worldwide network of friends, have become taller, with better hair, and my car gets great milage.

I was also informally diagnosed around 9/11... by a GP, a month or two after 9/11.
