Hello, everyone,
I am not diagnosed yet, but have taken the baron cohen aq and scored 44. My daughter had a friend with Asperger's and started wondering aloud if I might be an "aspie". I started looking into the possibility, and here I am.
I have always felt like I was in a narrow hallway outside where all the 'normal people' were, and I could see and hear them, but always had a barrier separating me from them. As a result, I have become very withdrawn, and don't even share my main passion with anyone, which is my ability to play various musical instruments w/o training. My kids hear me play, and that's all. The one friend I have--with whom I barely speak now that college is done--doesn't even know I play an instrument, let alone several.
Now, finding this website, I feel like I found a whole world of people in the narrow hallway I used to feel was built for me and me alone.
Planning on going to the doctor, when I find one in my area, but this would just confirm what I am already sure is the case. Also planning to continue to take part in this community.

My thoughts on self diagnosis

No self diagnosis intended. Going to the doctor, and I'll see how that goes.

Just read your "thank you for welcoming me" thread in the General Autism Discussion. I'm sorry, not everyone is like that here. Ya gotta take the good with the bad as they say.
It really is nice here. So please don't base your opinion of WP and its members solely on that.
