I am 30 years old, and was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in my early twenties, just after graduating from college. Currently I work as an academic librarian in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Next March I will have completed a master's degree in library science.
I consider myself fortunate in the sense that I only have a mild case of Asperger Syndrome; although I've never had a girlfriend, I do have an active social life, and can hold down a job in my chosen field. For me, Asperger Syndrome is both a blessing and a curse: I may be socially impaired in some ways, but I tend to develop very intense interests and can memorize large amounts of information. I would never want to be "cured" of AS; I like being who I am.
In my free time, I like to read about Eastern religions, especially Buddhist and Taoist philosophy. I am also interested in Western religions as well; once I finish the Fall quarter I intend to read the Quran in its entirety.
By joining this web site, I hope to gain more insight about my condition.
