First - thanks Alex for this site :D

I'm Lynn - I have a daughter (10) who is an Aspie.
She is an amazing kid - a blossoming artist and writer.

She is my kid-puzzle - her words come out all mixed up and I help her put them in order.
She says some very interesting things, and when she realizes what she has said, she can easily laugh at herself.

Currently, she struggles daily with classmates who don't know any better, or aren't educated on diversity. She has dyscalculia and loves to give up on math problems. Everyday math homework is a struggle. She is an A student in all her other subjects.

At home, I find that talking though situations and helping her to "know better next time" help sometimes - but it still breaks my heart when others don't understand her way of thinking, or how she expresses herself. She insists that her brain thinks twice as fast as her words are able to be spoken.

With her Math LD, I have to teach several different learning methods. It's different every day.
She's stuck in a school right now that is not very nurturing for her. Her goals are outdated and her accommodations need to be tweaked. I've been put off for over a month now on getting a review - and I feel they are trying to delay since her annual is coming up in January.

If I could home school, I would. It may be a life decision I have to think about very seriously within the next 1 - 2 years.

thanks for letting me write this long winded post - I'm so happy to have found a place to talk - and to get advice.

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

Welcome to WP :!:

Your post is not long winded at all! Infact, it's rather short compared to a few :) It's good when people write a bit about themselves and life in their intro post, lets all the other members know who is "joining the club" .

Anyway...In regards to homeschooling, yes, it can be a difficult choice to make. If it would benefit your daughter though, I say go for it. You may have to put some of your like on hold for a while until things are all sorted out...but it would be worth it in the end.
I wish that my mother homeschooled me...she was unable to though as she dropped out of school in forth form and did not have the knowledge or the time. Guess what...I am now a drop out too! Shows that kids do learn from their parents...

Anyway...sorry for the ramble  ...welcome, Lynn...I hope you enjoy your time here!
