Hello all,
I was born the same year Hans Asperger released his study, so am typically self-realized as an "Aspie". This happened quite recently; I was on my first ever travel abroad, visiting a Friend in London, who wondered aloud one day whether I might be autistic?
On returning home I started looking up the subject on the WWW which of course brought me to Asperger's info, and had what seems to be a common experience of discovering ones's personality categorized on a web-page. My first reaction was something that I would express by paraphrasing lines from the"Wizard of Oz": "Oh my goodness! That's me all over!".
It's a relief to no longer have a "mysterious black hole with a big question mark over it" in my mind. Finally after all these years getting some clue why I was "different" has made a big and positive difference in my outlook, particularly finding out I wasn't the lone "freak" I always felt like.
Love, Johnpipe
