Hi everyone. I joined up a few days ago and looked through the forum.. but I'm kinda shy so I like to get an idea of a place before I say anything. :) Well anyway, I live in Brisbane, Australia. I only found out about Aspergers a few months back, when I started having anxiety problems. I went to an anxiety specialist and it seems my anxiety isn't the usual kind and I don't think in the usual way, which I hadn't realised before. I have always felt like an outsider and I struggle to find a place for myself... but well, I kept looking and stumbled across Aspergers... Long story short, I have been referred to Tony Atwood's clinic to get a diagnosis sometime next year. There is a waiting list. Sorry, this ended up being quite rambly.

Hello! I live in Brisbane too. I joined a few days before I first posted, because, like you, I like to know what a place is like before I join in. (The previous sentence contained the word "like" three times.)
I would like to see Tony Attwood and hopefully obtain an official diagnosis, but at present I cannot afford to do so.

I've noticed he seems to be quite well known in relation to Aspergers. What was he like in person?

Nice enough. I hadn't even heard of AS at the time, and he was telling me stuff about myself that I never thought of as being part of AS.

Hi there. :) I couldn't afford it either, but I managed to get a referral from a doctor. The government subsidizes it if you get a referral. When I found out about Aspergers I did lots of research, so I had the clinic, Mind and Hearts all ready to ask to be referred to.

I'm still getting the hang of this place, but it's really cool to find other Aussies, especially so close.

I've been doing lots of research into AS and I've actually found the same thing. It's quite an odd feeling, especially some of the little behaviours... can't think of any now.
