Hi guys, my name is ssenkrad. Just turned 21, was diagnosed when I was 15. I've been working in retail in some form or another since I was 17, but currently I'm a full time college student and a part time assistant. Let me give you an abridged history of AS & I.

During elementary school, I acted totally NT. Really, I couldn't be a more typical kid. But during my teenage years, I developed several AS traits and eventually became pretty low-functioning. It got so bad it prompted my parents to sign me up for therapy and homeschooling. So, between the ages of 14 and 17, I was pretty much an outcast. When I was 17, I got pretty fed up with my pathetic self, and with the help of some advisers and my parents, enrolled in a small private school. I was a year behind and graduated when I was 19, but through hard work I was able to suppress most of my AS traits. When I was 19 I moved to the west coast for college. I needed to start over where no one knew me, if you know what I'm saying. I applied to and was accepted into a midsize community college.

So here I am now. Wednesday will mark the end of my 3rd semester here, and so far, it's been fun. I'm working towards what I hope will be a lucrative career. Granted, I'll be here for 3 more semesters, but at that point I hope to graduate and transfer to a university.

My hobbies; well, in high school I used to enjoy swimming, bicycling, bowling, and baseball, but at the moment 75% of my time is taken by my studies (the other 25% is taken by work, the girl, eating junk food, etc.). I yearn for the day that I'll have a career that gives me enough free time to indulge in my passions. Till then, it's school, work, school.

If you want to chat, feel free to PM me! I like to meet new people.

Thanks for reading,
ssenkrad

It's cool, call me whatever. Thanks for the warm greeting. I noticed from your site (nicely designed, by the way) that you seem to take an interest in JPop. I can't say I know much about the genre, but I am a fan of Tokyo Jihen and Jay Chou.

Hmm, I'd have to say progressive rock is my favorite. 1970s prog-rock, as in pretentiousness, fat riffs, and 5-minute keyboard solos.
I like a bit of techno too, if you consider The Field and Assemblage 23 techno. Who else do you recommend? I love hearing new stuff.

I`d recommend? O.o I suppose it really depends on your taste of techno, seeing as it can branch off into differant types, but, some DJs(you can sample them on myspace) would be DJ Satomi, DJ Mystic, and DJ pulse, and bands like Groove-coverage or nightcore, or if your into happy hardcore, smile.dk.

Cool, I'll have to check them all out. I didn't realize techno had so many subgenres.

Hi ssenkrad

Welcome to WP :!:

You sound like you have a lot going on at the moment. Lots of study, working, home-life etc. Sounds good though and I am sure that you will achieve your dream career one day if you continue to be as motivated as you sound.

I tried a small private school last year, needless to say...that did not work. I don't think I would have found any school that suited me.
Anyway, i'm glad that it suited you.

Hope you enjoy posting here.

Too right I do. Sometimes you just have to shed the past like an outgrown skin and start afresh. Or, if you prefer computer metaphors, reformat and do a clean reinstall. :)

Best wishes for you in your studies, ssenkrad, and welcome here.

Welcome,

I sounds good. Keep it up. Most of us old folks just went and did it, quirks do not get in the way, and often help. we are good at some things.
