Hi,

I am Pieter, 23 years old. I live in Belgium.
I only realized recently that I have Aspergers. All my life I had a very hard time dealing with people socially (especially at high school).
My father gave me a book (my younger brother has autism, so he suspected I might also have some autism) about couples of which one/both of the partners have AS/autism, the partners talk about their experiences, as I was reading the book it was like I was reading about myself. This week I went reading about autism and asperger on the web, and I ended up at WP, I am very happy to know there is a community like this!

I am a freelance electrician (lighting) for film/video/commercials, and also a freelance video editor for tv (I prefer lighting because I like the action and not sitting in front of a computer all day). I had to work very hard because I am self-taught (I quit engineering at college in the 2nd year).
Have any of you guys seen the movie Ben X (its a Belgian movie about the life of an autist youngster that has a very hard time at school, It won some prizes at the Monreal film festival)? It was very emotional for me because I could really relate to it.

As hobbies I work on little creative projects of myself and people I know. I like watching movies (especially independent cinema), listening to music (I started playing guitar last month), art and traveling. I spent a lot of time alone, I am not much into socializing.
I would love to go and live in the US, I totally love the States: especially California (beaches, In&Out burger), Nevada (desert, the strip in Vegas) and of course NY.

This site is fantastic, now I perfectly know that I have AS and I am happy knowing it, with what I have read so far on this site I have become a better person and it will help me to handle difficult situations. Thanks.

Welcome Jivi,

You are not alone, there is at least one other Belgian here.

This is the place to have fun and discover what you can do to spread Autism.

Hoi Pieter,

Welkom hier op WrongPlanet. Geen Belg, wel een noorderbuur. Zelf hang ik hier nu een aantal dagen om en er vallen goede ervaringen te lezen.

Zal die film nog wel even kijken.

Veel plezier hier.

Yep, WP is a huge resource of information and advice based on experience

All the experiences I had when I was young, I thought I was different, but now I am reading lots of similar experiences, its amazing.
