Hello again, all:

I am indeed Douglas MacNeill. I'm a 43-year-old Aspie (diagnosed
in September 1997--two months before I convocated for my Master
of Arts degree in Sociology). I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and
currently am on medical leave from my job as a research resource
person at the University of Alberta. For now, let me just say that I've
heard of a few other people in the Greater Edmonton area with Asperger's
Syndrome or other Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Merry Christmas to all,
Douglas MacNeill

Hi SleepyDragon:

Here's some foolish questions for you:
First, where in Aussie are you living these days?
Second, have you had to choose a footy [Aussie Rules
football] team to barrack [=support, cheer on], and
if yes, which one do you support?
Third, I remember once hearing about the Rolf Harris song
Six White Boomers. Do Australians still listen to it, or
even sing along with it?

Yours thankfully,
Doug

Not foolish at all, Douglas!

I live, with husband, two children and cat, near the east coast of NSW in the Illawarra region (just south of Sydney).

I don't take much interest in Aussie Rules football, or football in general to be honest. But my husband is a one-eyed (i.e. fanatically loyal) supporter of the St George-Illawarra Dragons, a rugby league team. When the Blues (the NSW team) face the Maroons (the Queensland team) in the League's State of Origin series, I try to muster up some enthusiasm - but tell ya what, it doesn't come natural. :D If I had to name one Aussie Rules team to barrack for, it'd be the Sydney Swans.

As for Rolf Harris, somewhere in our library is an illustrated children's book with the Six White Boomers song on a bonus CD. If we (that is, me & the kids) sing along to it, we usually tweak the lyrics to "Six white boomers ate my bloomers" or something equally silly. My fave Rolf Harris tune is his unforgettable cover of "Stairway to Heaven."
