Well I have been lurking here for about 2 weeks and today I decided to join I have just recently been diagonsed with AS It's a relief to finally know what's wrong with me. I'm 22 live in South Florida and I like Video Games,Sports and Anime.

Growing up I was always the kid in school that always stayed quiet and worked I never was really sociable until Middle and High School,8th grade I met my two best friends . When I was little I didn't walk until I was 2 years old and was kinda shaky when I finally learned. My mom took me to countless doctors because of this they always said(she would out grow it) I never did. Well feel free to ask other things you maybey wanting to know. Oh yeah Merry Christmas!

My "conscious" socialization began at that time too. I overheard a couple of girls talking about me, and how stuck up I was-- it floored me that I was perceived this way. I had always just kept to myself because I thought everyone hated me. It was a strange awareness and began my process of integrating (ie. putting on the "social face" and pretending to fit in with others.). It was so weird-- I'd consciously tell myself to smile at someone when they looked at me, to say hi, to do all the things that other people seemed to do naturally, and I had to force myself to do it. It has become more natural with time (this script that is my life).

I registered few days ago and would like to introduce myself too.
I am a 39 y.o mother of 2 girls. I live in Massachusetts.

My older girl of 13 was just diagnosed with AS, and I got my diagnosis together with her.
It is very nice to know that someone else has similar experiences.
I enjoy greatly reading discussions here.

For so many years I felt that I was the only one ugly duckling. All of a sudden I am not unique.

Thanks for the Welcomes guys,I love this place already Yeah I know Strange girl It feels great that there are other people out just like me,and had the same problems during school.
