Hi, I enjoy coin collecting/investing and was interested in how many others enjoy this also. I specialize in Silver Eagles but, now I am getting involved with Morgan dollars as well. With silver approaching $17 an ounce, I'm trying to get some of my non-collecting friends into this lucrative hobby. They keep asking, why don't you invest in gold? I explain to them that the potential profit margin in silver, is much higher than gold or platinum coins. I usually sell my coins when they reach a 50% profit margin(sometimes as high as 500%) and this usually, only takes a few weeks or months. With gold at over $900 an ounce, the 1 ounce coin would have to appreciate $450, in order to obtain that 50% profit margin. That could take years. I use this same logic to convince my friends(NT's) to get involved, but they still refuse. Oh well, their loss is my gain. If anyone would like express their interest, feel free. I would like to talk about collecting, or hear someone elses opinions. Thanks, jawbrodt.

I'm more of an amateur coin collector, yet.

It helps that the Royal Canadian Mint (in my fair homeland)
sometimes makes what the trade calls "mules" (coins where
the reverse side is of a different design than what is intended
to match up with its obverse--eg. the 1973 big-headed Mountie
quarter, or some Olympic quarters where an able-bodied sport
on the reverse is matched up with the Paralympic insignia on
the obverse.)

Hey Soon, I agree, the new presidential dollars are pretty cool. Here's a little tip. They started minting the new dollars last year and quite a few error coins have made it into circulation. They can be purchased on Ebay for about $50-$800 which, in almost every case, is way under market value. I would start with, missing edge lettering or double edge lettering coins. Both are edge lettering errors which, will be worth quite a bit more in a few years. They will yield a much higher return than any IRA, bonds, etc... Also, only buy NGC or PCGS certified coins. This will eliminate buying "fake" error coins. Check it out, you can get started for only $50 a coin and have something to cherish for years to come.

Macneill, it sounds like you are into error coins as well. I will recommend the same advice that I gave to Soon, above. Ebay has the absolute lowest prices because everyone is trying to undercut each other. Bad for sellers, good for us. This pretty much applies to any type of coin. Also, buy only NGC or PCGS certified coins. This will eliminate the chance of buying fakes. Check it out, I find it quite interesting.

Getting rolled 1$ coins from the bank, and going on the hunt, are the rolled coins considered unsurclated , it's rolled at the armrie right not by the mint. They get them in bags. and have to roll them for the bank that orders them?

Sorry about the spelling

Soon, those rolls just might have come directly from the US Mint. You can get them directly, either in rolls, bags and even 4 coin sets. If those are genuine mint rolls, I have seen them selling for about $35 a roll on Ebay. If you go to the US Mint's website, you could look at a photo of the mint's rolls for comparison. I think you will be able to tell the difference. Also, the mint charges all civillians about $34 a roll but, the banks might be able to get them at cost($25). If that is the case, I'm going to the bank, first thing monday and I'm going to make some easy money. Let me know what you find. Good luck.

Did you ever click on the site he keeps advertising? I'm too worried about getting a virus. I was just wondering if its a real site or not?
