I'm new here and just saying 'hi' because it seems the decent thing to do. I'm not very good at introductory posts so I'll just type whatever comes to mind until the screen looks too full.
OK, so I guess I should start with why I'm here. I've recently discovered that I very probably have Aspergers. I was diagnosed dyspraxic a few years ago but this doesn't cover a lot of my 'issues'. I've been reading about Aspergers after hearing about overlaps between the two things and I'd say I relate to about 80% of the symptoms / characteristics. I don't have an official diagnosis, I'm not particularly bothered about getting one either, it's just all been rather refreshing to read and realise that all my annoying quirks and habits aren't that weird after all and there are a lot of other people who are similar.
I don't get on with the majority of people (or rather they don't tend to like me very much even though I try to be friendly and am never nasty or rude to people) BUT the few people I get on really well with all seem to have apsie traits as well; the stuff I'm reading reminds me of my friends as well as myself so I figured this is probably the reason I click with certain people but find most people really difficult to talk to: I click with other aspies. So that's why I'm here: to learn more about this thing I may or may not have and to chat to people I'll probably really like.
btw I'm 36, female, British but living in Lanzarote. I live with my cat Max and work with my family which is really convenient as they're almost used to my ways 
finally a job where people like me and don't think I'm a freak, well not all the time anyway.

Whereabouts do you live in Lanzarote? We have local connections there (we holiday there every year and friends of ours own apartments in Puerto del Carmen). I'd love to meet you sometime!
