Hi. I'm from central California. I have a 9 year old son who was dx'ed at age 3 with Aspergers. I am a single mom and been through alot of this on my own. I have had support and such of family members but it usually boils down to sympathy and unwanted/over-repeated advice.

My son and I have worked with the school, with service coordinators, with doctors, with therapists, etc, for the last 6 years. I consider him to have made leaps and bounds compared to where we started. Seems there is always something new though, or as if he puts things in rotation. hahahaha.

I'd love to just meet a few new friends on here, who can genuinely say they know how I feel when I am frustrated and at my wits end, or when I am jubilant and overjoyed at his milestones.

I would also love to share my experiences and my sons with anyone that it might help, encourage, or lend a little hope to.

So, I'm not sure where to start and hopefully some of the frequent posters will take pity on me and send me some hullos.

Hi and welcome to the Aspie community...

I was only recently diagnosed myself with Aspergers, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia. My 14 year old just with non verbal learning, which crosses onto the ASD! and my 10 year old, next step. A husband who does not really want to know, so believe me I know what it can be like..

Welcome to WP! Believe me when I say you aren't alone here. There are many parents that post in the Parents Forum (and elsewhere) who are walking in your shoes.

I myself am a single mom to 3 teen boys. The oldest, 16, has AS and struggles with social issues, the middle, 14, has ADHD and the youngest, 13, has AS and a severe non-verbal learning disability. I also have a 7 year old daughter who has ADHD but is being watched for AS, as she is starting to have some difficulty along those lines.

I hope you find WP as helpful as I have.

Lauri

Thank you Lauri. Sounds like you are right. There seems to be at least a few people dealing with any of the same issues i am at this point. I'm glad to be here. I should have looked sooner!

Yeah... doesn't it always.

I've got a 7 y.o. aspie son and a 4 y.o. high functioning autisic son (though I suspect he's really just aspie).

I'm aspie myself.

have a look in the parent's forum.

oh and welcome to WP.
