I'm 15-year old girl who has been diagnosed with ADHD and possibility of AS (not officially diagnosed, but doctors had assumed that I might have it) when I was young (very, very young. I don't remember the exact age), and have a brother who has AS. Currently I am not having critical social problems, but I can't say I have never had those problems, and I have quite different way of developing social relationships compared to others so it is hard to say I am having totally 'normal' social life as NTs describe. Many kids around me say that I am eccentric and hyper (and I am thankful for those who considers this as my trait rather than 'something wrong in my head'). I've never told anyone around me that I have ADHD except for few close friends I've been since elementary school years and therefore knows my 'crazy', 'mental' past years, and someday I think I would be needed to tell something about it.
It is kinda shameful thing to say, but I denied that I have ADHD, thinking it is some sort of serious problem. The first time that I realized (not really, since I denied it) was when I was grade 4. I just heard what my mother and teacher talking about me, and from that time I started to deny that I have something 'wrong'. And now I decided to accept what I have. I am inspired and touched by stories of various people with ADHD/AS to know about myself, and I am very, very thankful for them.
It might sound weird, but my hobby is imagining (Literally. I am that kind of freak). I enjoy making up stories in my brain, following the trails of myself or characters I made (or already existing in various media). It is slightly different from living in my own world - it is more like traveling to it, or watching a movie or small animated series consist of the story. I like to write short stories, but not long stories since I am lazy and have trouble with finishing it. I also enjoy reading, scribbling(it doesn't limit to certain thing - I just write, draw and scribble random things on paper, and I keep notebook to do such things. They get really messy in few weeks and run out of paper after one or two months), playing games on DS, watching anime (I can say that I have an otaku-level interest) and collecting barcodes (one eccentric hobby goes here).
Anyway, I'm new here, and I'm glad to find this forum. Nice to meet everyone here!
