Hi
I am shell mum of 6 four on the spectrum.

I also have been recently diagnosed at 40 with Aspergers Syndrome.

Wow you have aspergers yourself and have 6 children, 4 of whom on the spectrum? wow i give you props, big props! I just have classic autism, and i one day want to become a mother, and cant imagine having that many, and then dealing with my own autism, thats really cool. How do you deal with all of that?

Its what i do.
i have to deal with it,but has many here have done i have acted and performed my whole life.
I know instinctivly what my children need and want.
I wonder sometimes if my having AS is a plus or minus for my children.

It probably is a plus especially since you have 4 on the spectrum already. Theres a lot of parents on the spectrum as well as having children on the spectrum! I applaud every parent who even has autistic child no matter if their NT or AS, I just hope when it comes time to me being a mother, i excell at it!

I'm sure you will be wonderful.
My first was hard but after that it got easier oe i understood how to parent.
I was brought up in childrens homes so i never had the marternal instincts at all.
My only companion was myself lol

Aw, well looks like urself and u did a pretty good job hehe :D, Somebody once told me, you can't always rely on everybody else, you gotta have a backbone, thats when yourself comes in handy, ok does that make any sense or have i just completely lost my mind haha?

Hi and welcome to the Aspie community...

I have 2 boys age 9 and 14, the 14 year old has just been diagnosed with NVL... I was diagnosed with aspergers July 2007 myself at the age of 48...
