I don't want to give out too much information about myself (my experiences on other boards has been borderline frightening) but I will say that I would identify myself as an aspie.

Anyhow, so I was wondering what kind of resources could be found here. Is this just infromational, or does the site help people get plugged into local cherities or groups where they could meet others?

I guess I could say that I see myself as becoming a bit of a go-between. I am very friendly (if quirky) in person and can see myself maybe doing something that helps to bridge the gap between others like myself and the rest of the world (so that they do NOT have to go through the same struggles, which normally were with misinterpretation and frustration).

But I was also wondering if I could learn a little about you (whatever you share is fine as long as it's family friendly which was not always what I saw on the other boards).

well, they call it a spectrum, and there's a reason. There's all types here. It's a good place to ask questions, share observations, and remain relatively anonymous. Welcome.

How safe would you say it is?

Let me explain what I mean. On my previous board, the admins were no where to be found, so people would post anything (sometimes even stealing other people identities, or posting graphic content that even included children). I found myself in a situation where people were talking about how they wanted me to be raped and how they wished I would die (one person even said that they wanted me to drive off a very high cliff). Others were attempting to squeeze my real name and address out of me.

And I'll just saw that there were other posts on this completely open and public forum that could be considered sexual harassment.

So is this one policed fairly well? How is it policed?

You should find what you're looking for here.

Everything is well organized with adult content accessed separately from general content. There's a team of active and friendly moderators here who are both fair and sensible.

If you find something that you are offended by, try PM-ing one of the moderators. I'd do a list but I'd be sure to miss things out.

Can you give us some clues as to where you fit in - it shouldn't compromise your identity... ie: what sorts of resources are you looking for?

Also - you will find that a lot of people here - myself included, have personal blogs which contain other information and useful links. My blog is serious and contains what I know about aspergers and is updated regularly. The link is in my footer.

I haven't seen a lot about local communities on WP - if it's not too much of a giveaway, you could mention your area and ask if people from the same area can help.

Hi morning-after, I just joined WP a couple days ago. I think you will be quite pleased. The site offers pretty much anything you can think of. It seems, that everybody respects everone else here. I haven't had any problems yet, or did I read of anyone else having problems. Don't be afraid to open up a little here. Everyone is welcome. Enjoy.
