Hi, you can call me Vatti. Vatti is a character from The Legend of Zelda series, The Minish Cap. My son 8, plays a lot of Zelda and other Nintendo games. I like to play too when I get the chance.

My son was diagnosed with aspergers two years ago when he was 6. I have a NT 6 year old daughter. I am sure that I am also an Aspie but I don't want to be diagnosed for fear that someone may someday say I am an unfit mother. My husband is NT and not understanding at all towards me or our son.

I have noticed that my son and I are very chemical sensitive. I am trying to avoid using all harmful chemicals as I learn about them but it sure is hard since they are everywhere. We actually get sick to our stomaches and headaches from walking down the detergent isle in the grocery store. We are very uncomfortable in large crowds, at sporting events, parties, around dogs( I think that may be a little strange. Any one else feel very scared of dogs?)

Socially, I have been a loner most of my life. I have never felt like I fit in anywhere. I think it is mostly because I don't read body language correctly, and I send the wrong body language back. I have learned to cope by either acting aloof or shy when I am out in public.

I hope to learn a lot here. I have already noticed how much we all have in common by only reading a few postings.

Good luck avoiding Chemicals - they're everywhere.

Better if you can narrow them down to specific ones.

No, I am not uncomfortable around dogs...I love them.

It's a shame that your husband isn't understanding of you or your son. Your son at this age will need all of the support that he can get from family...and you need it too! He may come around to the idea eventually though...well, hopefully so!
