Hello my name is Pavlos and I am from Greece.Just turned 29

To this day I dont know wheather I was born with aspergers or if I was trained to behave as an aspie by my mother.

There are mothers that do that you know.

She was in love with academic acoplishment and hostile to any kind of social engangement.

I do remember some events from my early childhood when my mothers influence wasnt strong enough yet..... and they match asperger critiria.

I still hate my mother though :)

Are there any tests that an adult may take to confirm/dismiss aspertger syndrome?

Thank you for your time.

Hi

Since the greek wikipedia article appears to be rather short, check out the english version.

It should be pretty easy to determine whether you're autistic or not, because there is quite a big difference between learned behaviour you got accustomed to and your identity as an autist.

If, after reading the article, you're still sure that you are not sure whether you're sure, see a doctor.

@Test: There are tests on the internet, easy to find with google. Type in autism test or something similar.

greets

Your neurodiversity (Aspie) score: 98 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 86 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie (neurodiversity) and neurotypical traits

Diagnostic prediction for Score Prediction
Asperger/HFA/PDD 147 You very likely will be able to receive the diagnosis
Dyslexia 114 You will probably be able to receive the diagnosis

There are 2 scores... 98/200 for aspie... what does it mean?
And there is 147/? (perhaps in 200) and a comment I will be able very likely to receive the diagnosis.

So I guess I am an natural born aspie....

I am fluent in english and it was the english version of asperger syndrome that caught my attetion in wikipedia.
(an old and I dare to say better version of the current article)

I thought I was reading the story of my life!
To that date the diagnosis was simple depression.

Reading that there other people around like me had a nearly healing effect on me.(At least for the depression part!)
Until that day I was convinced I was cursed by a crazy mother.

Been to a couple of doctors ... they precribed medication....
However I was not given a diagnosis since they didnt believe in labels.

A professor of psychaitry thought was convinced that whatever I had ...was NOT asperger.

His exact expresion was:If you were a student at exams I would fail you for proposing it!

I felt frustrated.....See the self diagnosis was importand to me.... and I dont consider myself an "patient by imagination"

I will give him my score the next time I visit him!

Thanks everybody for the help!

Some doctors are really stupid. After I was diagnosed by a very competant neuropsychologist, I went to see a social worker in private practice for social skills training and therapy. He told me I didn't have aspergers, but was just intelligent and narcissistic!! !!

This even after reading the 15 page diagnostic report from the neuropsych! Don't let them convince you that you're wrong about your self-diagnosis. If you think you have aspergers, you probably do. A good doctor would confirm it through science.
