My friend Seb thinks about 85% on this site are hypochondriacs, or people who have been mis diagnosed. He says my body language is contradictory, so he thinks I may some form of problem, but aybe not AS as my college thought. I guess my speech can be odd and perhaps I am quite obssesive about my own interests, although my nerves with this combined could suggest I'm a type A personalitty, with PTSD (I must state there is a reason why I have considered this notion- and my mum has PTSD).
BTW, what are Seb's qualifications? Maybe he's 85% wrong.

Looking at successful NT emulators in small doses will also throw you off, as we *look* very NT because we've learned how to. You can't see inside, however, to see how conscious it all is, and how much we still abhor chitchat and socializing, and our sensitivity to touch and sound, and our problems with executive function and impulse control.
I know 95% of all people who know me as an adult would be surprised if not shocked to hear that I am autistic. (Not true, however, of those who knew me as a child.)

Ok here it goes.Well I'm very logical, when I was little i couldn't understand the point of pretending. My left is also a lot weaker than my right,so much so my parents had to teach me how jump off of a chair without falling. In grade School I would talk to the teachers more than people my age and i got bullied realy bad.Socially I'm not the greatest,I noticed a few years ago I dont look people in the eye when i talk.Half of the time i'm to nevous to talk and when i do it always sounds forced and akward.I'm ok in school but my teachers always thought i wasn't listening because i figited. My hand writing is awful and it takes me a long time. when I'm stressed i talk to my self, figit, snap my fingers and pace.I ALWAYS have something in my hands.I love history and litereture and can go a little overboard. When i get a show i like i have to watch it until it gets boring, like the latest one was dr.phil and i like planned my day around it(I'm exagerating a litle but you catch my drift). That was until I got anew video game and now thats taken the place of the good old doc.I can't stand when people pock or touch me also i can't have a wallet in my pocket,it'll drive me insaine.Last but not least a can't eat any mushy foods or i will gag.
Ok that was a little long, sorry.Any Feedback would be appreciated
thanx
What grabbed my attention, the first time I read a description o AS
was gaze avoidance, I'd always wondered why I couldn't look at people.
The more I read the more I was convinced.
What really clinched it was this site.
I realized I identified with the people here far more than other people.
A few of my friends were scheptical at first but are slowly coming around.
Your description seems pretty AS to me.
Do you find being alone as easy as or easyier than the company of people?

I beleive labels are good for finding your issue and as a way to deal with them, I suspect AS and/or ADHD/ADD . I don't know how common figiting is among AS, but it fits perfectly into ADHD/ADD . And you share some traits with my non-AS but ADHD little brother. He's real picky about food and has terrible handwriting. Though I suspect the handwriting might just be him trying to hard to write exactly the way he was taught, which wasn't the simplest. Research both, and remember that a label is a great step into better understanding and furthering knowledge of yourself and issues.

I originally came on here because I was discussing AS with somebody elsewhere, and she gave me the link. Since coming on here I've found that I identify with a lot that has been said. The thing is, I'm not sure people would believe me because I find it so difficult to describe how I feel that I try to find the best description to tide me over until I find something better, or a better combination of things. Also it often takes somebody else to point it out for me. So it just seems as though I'm often 'jumping on the bandwagon' but I'm not - it just so happens that 'the bandwagon' provides the best description of how I'm feeling to date. If that makes any sense.
I'm still not sure whether I'm NT or AS. Is it possible to be mildly AS? Probably a stupid question, but if somebody could give a definitive yes or no, please?
Lol re last two posts

I can act as an NT (but not nearly as good as 95% of the people I know), but I certainly don't feel comfortable acting like an NT most of the time. And it makes me very tired. Until recently it also felt like it slowly, but surely, was killing me (until I found out about AS).

It is possible,it could also be somewhere else on the spectrum,if not enough AS criteria is fitted, some people say they have autistic traits but not enough for a specific diagnosis.
I think of AS as being a spectrum, there are the severe AS types, the middle functioning types, and those who only have the core criteria traits and are able to mask their difficulties and behaviors well.
Age is sometimes said to be a factor in lessening symptoms (hence why for some adults who have integrated well into NT society, it can be difficult to diagnose),but age doesn't make traits milder for everyone.
ADDwhen i was ten,but that didnt acount for everything.I have some difficulties that other people with ADD dont have,if that makes any since.

The only person who can say whether it is AS or something else is a professional/pysch etc,as AS is also similar to other conditions,I know it is easier said than done, especially for those who do not have access to a free medical service, but the money would be well spent if still having difficulties.
....
After reading the post with symptoms experiencing,it does sound quite typical of being somewhere on the autism spectrum, although I do know a lot of ADHDers who have sensory difficulties to,and crappy handwriting is common with ADHDers (should see mine )
But,it isn't uncommon for people to be diagnosed with ASD after originally being misdiagnosed with ADD (AS in particular is a relatively new diagnosis) and it is common to find ADD or ADHD comorbid with ASD,it would be worth speaking to someone specifically trained in ASD.

Of the things you said, at the very least you certainly show autistric traits if not AS.
Welcome to WP and keep researching and reading our posts and posting, yourself. The more you read the more clear things will become.
1. logic to its extreme can be a frequent trait of ours. Or a literalness, too.
2. your left arm being weaker than your right (I assume you're right-handed) can be more associated with Nonverbal Learning Disorder. But it's my understanding approx. 40% of Aspies have NLD, too.
3. prefering not to interact with peers but with older or younger is common
4. being bullied is common for Aspies.
5. social awkwardness is VERY common
6. lack of eye contact, frequent
7. fidgeting can be an ADHD/ADD trait, but these occur very often with an ASD
8. Aspies often have handwriting problems and other coordination difficulties
9. pacing, fidgetting, etc., are all stims. Aspies (and ADHDers/ADDers) often stim
10. obsessive interests-- very common
11. food sensitivies are well-represented in auttidom

With the caveat that all of those things occur in NTs too, but generally smaller doses per person.
From what I've read it would seem that someone can have one of proaspagnosia, sensory integration dysfunction, fidgeting/stims etc without having AS, but a combination of the symptoms would be strong evidence for AS...?
(According to my join date I've been here over three months and I'm still not sure about most of this )
