I'm an Irish mathematics student, at third year undergraduate level. I was diagnosed with "autistic features" at the age of three in Canada after my delayed language development concerned my parents. I attended the Giant Steps program in Montreal at the age of four, in case any of you know that place (incidentally I tried to visit that place last summer to see how it has changed and whether anyone there knew me or would be interested in me, but apparently it isn't even where it used to be in the city). My interests include mathematics and music listening. I suppose I joined because I have something in common with many of you, but we'll see if there's anything else of interest.

Could you tell me more about your language delay. When I was learning to talk as a toddler I decided to give it up and just make animal noises to anyone that talked to me. My parents had to take me to a child physcologist and give me fake medicine to make me talk again.

I never did anything like that as far as I'm aware, I was just a few months behind my peers in reaching and passing the two-word stage which was enough to alarm my mother. I also had a tendency to compulsively repeat phrases, such as "Batteries Not Included" which I heard on television ads for toys.
