I'm 61 years old and was diagnosed with NLD about a year ago. It's been a year of pondering a lot of things......like what might have been had I found out earlier and gotten some help.

I'll be reading and learning here, too.

As adult diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome late in life, I have pondered the same thoughts.

Welcome to Wrong Planet!

Thanks......I just took the test that is linked here someplace.....and got:

Your neurodiversity (Aspie) score: 102 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 88 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie (neurodiversity) and neurotypical traits

Diagnostic prediction for Score Prediction
ADD/ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder) 152 You very likely will be able to receive the diagnosis
Asperger/HFA/PDD 113 This isn't a primary diagnosis you should seek
Social phobia 106 This isn't a primary diagnosis you should seek
Bipolar 82 This isn't a primary diagnosis you should seek
OCD 76 This isn't a primary diagnosis you should seek
Dyslexia 44 This isn't a primary diagnosis you should seek

Besides NLD, I was also diagnosed with strong signs of ADHD (minus the hyperactivity).

So......seems like the test was accurate for me, since it doesn't even try to screen for NLD.

Welcome Wadena, I too was diagnosed as an adult but with asperbers. I've often wondered why no one ever brought that word up after so much diagnosis by several psychiatrists. I think there's still somewhat of a stigma attached to it only being related to boys.
