Another new arrival

Hello to all! I am just self-diagnosed and trying to figure out how this all works. I am female and almost 60. I'm sure this sounds like a very old story to you all—I knew that I processed things quite differently in a lot of ways and was quite out-of-step with others (as is constantly pointed out by my mother and my husband), but never connected it with simply having a different brain. When I read the list of common AS traits, I almost wept. All the things that I get heat for (ie "I shouldn't have to tell you—you should just know") are on the list. These traits became much stronger 20 years ago when I suffered a brain injury, but I have always had them to some degree. I am pretty sure that my father was an aspie as well. Anyway I am very pleased to find this site and am looking at old threads and finding some very useful and interesting information.

I can so relate to what you say when I found out just last year I did cry mainly with relief as always had know I was different, it was like finding the true me...

I appreciate the welcome. Simply realizing that AS applied to me was a huge relief, as it explained so much, including many little things I never realized were connected.
