Please no one reply, the thought of this being included on the homepage latest messages list is acutely embarrassing.
welcome

i wanted to not reply like you asked, but just had to... i wanted to say i know how frightening and embarrassing it can be posting here and getting responses. sometimes i feel like every letter i type is leaving an indellible mark on cyberspace, and if someone does read and reply its like i'm changing the future course of their universe, and thats a terrifying thought. unfortunately there's no way i could tell you that without replying to your post! sorry
i'm also quite isolated, have pretty severe communication difficulties both written and verbal, mostly mute in real life, and (well, was) a mathematician too.
I can be quite apprehensive when talking IRL. But I take pride in my grammar and vocabulary when writing, so I'm normally quite skilled and confident when writing online.
The way I see it is, I'm fine with lots of unknown people reading what I type as long as I'm confident that the reader will get from it what I'd like them to get from it; as someone misunderstanding or unfairly judging you for something you wrote can be quite annoying. And if all else fails, then God bless the Edit button.
ViatorRose, I can image that posting on the internet could make you feel like a whole load of faces are staring down onto your writing, judging you. But like I said before, it can help alot to make sure your message very expressive and persuasive for what you have to say.
