Hello everyone,

I´m a recently diagnosed 21 years old Aspie from Mexico. Unfortunately I came from a place in the world in which almost nobody has a clue (including psychologists) about Asperger Syndrome so I didn´t had and answer to my feelings and my social disfunction until now.

I´ve lived a very troubled and very lonely life so far..even though it seems that´s changing now a bit. Unfortunately for me every single day since the moment I wake up I live in a constant battle against my depression and let me tell you it´s really hard to live like this.

Also I´m fully recovered Anorexic (I was an anorexic when I was 12 and almost died from it) ..and even though I´m not and anorexic anymore ,it left me lifetime scars and the reasons that made me get sick are still here with me.

Even though I´ve just registered to the site, I´ve been hanging around here for quite a while now and for me this site it´s more effective than any antidepressant pills i´ve taken..here I feel like I belong somewhere and now I understand there´s more people in the world who feel the same way I do.

It was really hard for me to write this personal things in this forum since i´m not used to it but I really wanted to.. so there it is . I hope my english it´s OK I´m doing my best..

Any questions or anything you want to tell me are welcomed.

Welcome to WrongPlanet! Hope you stick around a bit, we're pretty friendly here.

And your English is just fine, if you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have realized it wasn't your native language.

Welcome, Solitary!

My history is very much like yours. I am also a fully recovered anorexic, and still working on the depression.

I'm glad you find it helps to hear from people with similar problems- I feel the same way.

Living in Mexico, do you think it is partially cultural that people are unaware of Asperger's? Some of my hispanic relatives thought very badly of me growing up, including my grandmother- she could not understand at all what I was going through, and she was a psychologist!

Anyhow, hope you like it here.

Hi there! :D ..to answer your question, yes I believe it has a lot to do. First of all people in my country are extremely close minded, and they tend to think thay have the answer to everything in life , even though they don´t , secondly the level of ignorance in my country it´s really high and they are pretty comfortable with it, people don´t make any effort to overcome this, for example in Mexico the number of books that a person reads per year it´s about 2,5 :? (of course I´m not generalizing, there are people wich are extremely talented and well rounded in many areas.)

Nice to find someone which feel, in a way, the same as I do ..

AND THANK´S A TO ALL OF YOU FOR MAKING ME FEEL AT HOME.

Hi SolitaryShell,

welcome to WP.

I'm glad that you feel like you belong here...because you are more than welcome here. :)
I have depression as well. Mostly from being socially isolated for so long, having low self esteem from bullying etc...but working on over-coming that like a lot of other people are. :)

Your english is fine. You write a lot better than some in New Zealand who's first language is english!

Do you study anything? Or do you work? Or neither?
