I'm so glad I found this place... I'm a mom to a 6 year old diagnosed with ASD... Listening to the parents moan on Autism Speaks is no place for me.. I am looking to listen, and to learn, to help my son get along better in the world. My goal, as a person in the Autistic community, is to get the world to understand that acceptance is the key.
Everyone in this world is a unique individual, and we all have the same rights as the next person. I'm new to the community, and am looking for a place for me and my son to feel at home.. I believe it's here... I had the unfortunate experience of winding up on other "parent based" websites that are decietfully and unappropriately named, and found myself getting bashed for my point of view... What I can't seem to comprehend is that why these people are so angry and want to blame everything in the world, when they should be spending thier time making life easier for the ones they are caring about. Many people are in disregard of how actual autistic people feel, and so selfish to just cry and blame, and look for a cure, and do anything to not deal with the situaition directly... by trying to understand the Autistic they say they care about...
I want to see the world through my son's eyes... and to help him to see it through mine as well.. I think this place may be a good start...
