Hi. I'm Carrie. I have recently realized that I may have undx'd asperger's. My son has asperger's, also. So does my cousin. And I think my husband does, too. I know his brother is undiagnosed! That guy can recite movie lines from the 70's. He laughs when I suggest that he may have asperger's. It's amusing.

I live in Texas.

Aspergers is genetic - and... the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

also...

Subconsciously, aspies tend to attract other aspies. (or other types of people with communication issues).

So this may account for your feeling that a lot of people around you are aspie.

Also, once you read the DSM IV criteria, you start to see it everywhere. Everyone has a bit of "aspie" in them, but only some people have enough to be "full aspies".

Have you (and these other people) tried taking the online Aspie Quiz?

Also, how old is your son?

Mine is 7
I've also got a HFA son aged 4.

Thanks. I did take the Aspie quiz. I scored 173. I need to have my husband take it.

Our son is 8 yrs old and he was officially dx'd last August when he was 7. I feel like I "get" him pretty well, but he still confounds me at times.

My cousin w/ it was dx'd at age 9, almost 10 yrs ago.

I didn't realize that aspies tend to attract others. That makes sense, though.

Yuck. My parents were stationed there before I was born.

You'll like San Marcos. If you get the opportunity, try Mamacita's restaurant when you move. It's my 8 yr old aspie's favorite restaurant! Poor boy hardly gets to go, though, because we aren't that fond of it. It's ok. California-style Mexican food. I think Max's obsession is their guacamole.
