Hi everyone! :D
I'm completely new here. I'm from Sweden and I just turned 19 this January.
I modified some of the questions from ture's introduction post, simply because I'll be up all night editing this post if I try to rewrite it now.

Why I'm here:
Just to try and find people to talk to and share experiences with, I guess.
Also, I often feel extremely malplaced in 'regular' forums, like I'm hiding something and that, sooner or later, people there are going to realise that I'm a 'fake' human, that I'm only pretending (which, in a way, I am). So I constantly worry about saying something wrong, no matter what the subject being discussed might be.
I'm sorry to hear having AS is troubling you. For me it's a huge part of who I am, and while it's not all I am, I still wouldn't be me without it and I love myself.

How I was diagnosed:
I'll try to make this as short as possible, but its complicated, hopefully it won't get too long. :)

I've always felt diefferent from others, but it wasn't until Junior High that everything fell apart. I was deeply depressed and self-destructive and I was moved between psychiatric facilities and emergency rooms and tried all possible treatments and medications for 5 years.

A year ago, when I turned 18 and had to be transfered to adult psychiatry, the people at social services wanted to do a thorough examination to find out what was wrong with me. They didn't check for any signs of autism, though (I guess that's the price you have to pay for being too gifted and articulate, huh?). My diagnosis at that time, which is the one I still have on paper, was ADHD, Bipolar Disorder II, Anxiety syndrome and four personality disorders (Antisocial, Passive Agressive, Narcissistic and Borderlne). They ironically thought that that was the most 'simple' way of describing my problems.

A few months ago I got a new psychiatric doctor and she met me when I was in the middle of a mixed episode of mania and depression, but after a few more meetings once I got better she said that she suspected that my diagnosis of ADHD was wrong and that the hyperactivity part was only hypomania gone unnoticed. She later changed her mind about that, though, and she started testing me for Asperger. I went to a few informational meetings about it and everything just seemed to describe everything that I'd always known about myself.

In June, when the final round of tests are completed, I will have an official diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome and Bipolar I Disorder, and I'll probably still be considered to have ADHD as well.

Favorite subjects:
In school it's math, philosophy, history (but only certain periods in time, like ancient greece) and physics.

Year/Grade:
I'm in my first (and final) year of High School.

Favorite music:
Emilie Autumn, Rammstein, Nirvana, early Manic Street Preachers, Hole.
I also love classical music; Beethoven is my God.

Books:
I love poetry (Rimbaud, Yeats, E.A Poe, Baudelaire) and I have periods of obsession with book series (Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, etc.). I'm very much into fantasy and I also tend to love the classics. Some of my favorites are The Portrait of Dorian Gray, The Illiad and Dantes Divina Comedia. Also, everything by John Ajvide Lindqvist (my other God).

TV shows/Movies:
To list them all would take too long, but in general I love horror movies. I don't care much for blood and guts, but psychological terror is the best thing ever, like the movie Funny Games. Also, psychologically driven movies or shows that get you thinking.
Right now I'm just rewatching A Beautiful Mind over and over again.
Some TV-series I've been obsessed with lately are OZ, Heroes and House.

Instruments I play:
The recorder, bass and piano (fairly good at all of them) and planning to learn how to play the violin next.

Family:
Yes, parents and a younger brother. And my cat.

Clothing:
Whatever I feel like.
Constantly changing on a spectrum of Courtney Love-trashy -> jeans and a t-shirt -> Nobel Prize Winner-classy.

How I found this website:
I'm a complete Wikipedia addict, and the entry on Asperger Syndrome (does the lack of an 's on Asperger bother anyone but me?) linked to WrongPlanet.

My plans for the future:
Lots of them, but right now I'm just finishing my first year in a normal school (which for me is the first major step towards being able to live in the big 'world outside') and concentrating on building a 'normal' (or as close as I can get) life from scratch. Once school's out, I'm taking some time off to focus completely on working on myself and to try out som new medications.
The plan is to be able to study at Stockholm University next spring.

I think that's about all for me right now... This place seems great and I think I'll enjoy it here. :D
