I was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1990
its very likely that i was misdiagnosed

I do believe that i maybe an Aspie, my GF is all so an Aspie

i tuck the Aspie-quiz 2 times and i got.

quite true the world can be full of a**holes. they sceem to be very rare here though

Yes, unfortunately, from what I've read, that happens all too often. It makes me so angry that this kind of thing happens to people. A first cousin of mine was diagnosed in her early twenties with schizophrenia, put on heavy medication, and institutionalized later in her life when her mother became ill and could not look after her. She is now 66 years old, still institutionalized, still drugged. Knowing now, (I've only known about Asperger's for a year) how often people are misdiagnosed it really saddens and angers me to think that this may have been the case with my cousin. I hope you will find Wrong Planet a source of support and information in obtaining a correct professional diagnosis or making an accurate self-diagnosis. I wish you well whatever the outcome may be.

Instead of being understood, we are damaged from birth and then given labels no one really understands!

I know how hard it can be someone in my family back home in the UK has just been diagnosed with schizophrenia... there has always been bipolar in our family like with many autism spectrum families people often feeling 'alienated' in this world, because of others lack of true understanding and respect for another human being?
