So, I too was drawn to this site in the past few days, I started to read accounts of this syndrom and I was shocked. It was like it was completely describing my husband. WHen he was younger he used to do things like rock on a rocking horse for hours and hours until it broke- and there are other repeative patterns, too. I find him pacing A LOT and rubbing his fingers together all the time. He doesn't really have a lot of friends, okay maybe a couple not close at all and he's really into D&D. He has a very high IQ and does well at is job although it's a very technical repeatitive job and specific in which he is interested in. He is very quiet and non emotional although he does have anger outburts sometimes. High noises bother him A LOT and his response to them is kind of innappropriate..also big crowds. He HATES being touched by people..

I had him take some of the online tests and he tested high on the scores- he answered yes to a lot of things *I* even didn't know about and was surprised (like he finds it hard to read non verbal communication cues and has difficulty recognizing people outside of the social context).

Please give me some input! Where would we go to find out for sure?

I think D&D pretty much guarantees he has it .... (j/k) but seriously, to find out for sure, you'd go to a psychiatrist, but its not like there is a blood test or something to see if you "have it". The psychiatrist will basically observe your husband and ask him some of the same questions. If he has those types of symptoms, then you can pretty much be sure he has it, if you know what i mean.

Best thing is, tell him about this site and we can GOOD COP BAD COP HIM....

Only joking.

But seriously, he needs to discover for himself what it means to have aspergers. If you're gonna have a label then make sure for yourself that you agree with it.
